Message from the President

The 2008 ratings are out. Check them out on-line. Congratulations to the many members that moved up in ratings!!!! From our treasurer a note: for all of you filling out the 2008 Membership Application Form (please print clearly) and mailing it in with an accompanying check, please know, that your check will be cashed after 1/1/08. We had a grand time at the Turkey Shoot last month! The following merchants provided prizes for us: Rocky Mountain Sports, TCF Bank, Beerman Liquors, Belmar Physical Therapy, King Soopers, Safeway and our Rita Price donated champagne. Please, let’s support these merchants every opportunity we can. When you see Sue Honaker and Linda Maisonneuve, please thank them for a terrific job they have done on the Board. We truly appreciate their efforts, dedication and support. I would like to acknowledge and welcome the following new LTA members to the Board: Debbie Caperton, Newsletter Editor, Ben Cudd, Webmaster, and Beth Vermeulen, Women’s Coordinator/Mixed Coordinator. We look forward to their support and attendance at the Board Meetings. I want to thank Al Wietharn for his constant support in helping me prepare the Lobber since that position has been vacant for the past 4 months. His technical support has been invaluable! Thanks Al!!!!!!!!!! The North Jeffco Tennis Club is again hosting a New Year's Eve Social at Meadow Creek Tennis and Fitness, 6305 W. 6th Ave., from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m., on December 31, cost is $25.00. Tennis play is from 7:30 to 11:30, usual 40 minute on, 40 minute off format, with a champagne toast, both alcoholic and non, at midnight. Bring your own beverages and food to share. Reserve with sandra.jacquez@level3.com including your contact information and rating by Dec. 24 and mail your check, also including contact information to NJTC, P.O. Box 239, Arvada, CO 80001-0239. For further information or if you wait till the last minute, to check on availability, call Marilyn Vaughn at 303-423-2616. This is my last Message. I have been honored to be President of Lakewood Tennis Association for 2 years. During this time, the Board has been extremely supportive of me. I want to thank all of them for their help, willing to step in and do any job that needed to be done. There was NEVER, a time that this present board ever said “that’s not my responsibility”. They are a great Board to work with. As of this writing, there hasn’t been anyone to step up to the Presidency. Ron Tobey, Vice President, will be conducting the board meetings. It’s been a pleasure to serve as President. Al & I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year of lots of fun and challenging tennis. Be safe.
