The LTA is a city tennis club that has presented a strong adult tennis program for nearly 30 years. Though the club has no permanent building or courts, our "home" courts, through arrangement with the City of Lakewood, are located at Lakewood Park (Cedar & Kipling) and Daniels Park (West 14th Avenue and Welch). Dues are $35 for a single, $45 family. LTA teams have a consistent record of reaching the finals in their respective divisions, often winning sectional and national titles.
Numerous programs, teams and events are offered throughout the year and all members are welcome:
Men's and women's USTA teams, day and evening
Mixed doubles teams (including spring USTA and combined ITA in the fall)
Senior teams (50 and older)
Super senior teams (61 and older moving up annually to 65)
Sign up for the USTA teams begins early in the year, finish by early March. Those interested in being on a team should contact inter club coordinators as soon as possible as teams fill up quickly. You must have a USTA rating in order to play on a USTA team. There are three fees associated with playing on a LTA USTA team: paid membership in LTA, USTA membership, and a team fee.
Spring starts in May with our Windscreen Party at the Lakewood Courts, where members volunteer to hang the windscreens for the City. Breakfast and lunch are included, followed by a day of good tennis. Summer finds the club enjoying league play, $2 court fees, and monthly socials at the Lakewood Courts in summer, Meadow Creek in winter, always in a different and entertaining format, $15 court costs.
Monthly winter events are scheduled a local indoor courts with a variety of formats. Sign-ups for the monthly events (socials) are on a first-come basis, are published here under the LTA Schedule and in the Lakewood Lobber newsletter.
